AR 15 to a 300 AAC Blackout for $225

If you're like me, you enjoy shooting high caliber rounds. There's a big hubbub over who's better between the 7.62/39 & the 5.56. I like many of you have both but I prefer the power of the 7.62/39. The problem is that I don't want to trade accuracy for power. I was considering an AR 10 .308 Win but that's more than I wanted to spend. Then I heard about the 300 AAC Blackout. Now most companies want to break your bank just to get one of these bad boys. Here's how to do it from $225 to $385.

The 300 AAC Blackout can not only use your lower receiver but your upper as well. All that needs to be replaced are your barrel ($199) & gas block ($25).

Since the 300 AAC uses the same bolt carrier group & magazines there are 3 ways to go about this:

1) Replace the barrel & block on existing .223/5.56 receiver.

2) Purchase a new receiver ($95), barrel, gas block, gas tube ($16), & hand-guard.

3) buy a pre-made upper. DSA has them for $335 & model1sales has them for $385 starting out.

Remember, if you decide to assemble these yourself you will need several tools that are AR 15 specific.

1) Medium to large vice
2) Punch set
3) AR 15 combo armorer's wrench
4) Lithium grease
5) Lock tight
6) Upper receiver action block or
Upper drop in block
